sc    I would like to dedicate this post to Suzanne Collins, the amazing writer that brought us the unforgettable international bestseller, The Hunger Games Trilogy. Collins’s was born in August 10, 1962 in Hartford, Connecticut, the youngest of four. Being a daughter of an Air Force Officer she moved a lot during her childhood going to places like New York City and Brussels. For the Collins’s family, history was a prodigious topic and her father was very open with his kids about his experience in the military. The family ended in the South, where Suzanne graduated from Alabama School of Fine Arts in 1980. Then she enrolled at Indiana University, where in 1985 she graduated as a double major in theater and telecommunications. Collins’s, with her determination, went to the New York University to earn her master’s degree in dramatic writing. She started her professional career writing for children’s television. Her work in the television brought the attention of James Proimos, creator of the WB children’s program Generation O!, who hired her as his head writer and then encourage her to writing books -thank God he did!-.

Suzanne Collins debut book was Gregor the Overlander in 2003, the first book of The Underland ChroniclesNow to what we came here for -The Hunger Games trilogy-. The first book was published in 2008, since then it has mark everyone’s heart and mind. The story of this books revolves around Katniss Everdeen, the rebel heroine who lives in Panem. Panem is an apocalyptic nation, where the Hunger Games are an annual televised event in which young girls and boys risk their lives fighting to death in a cold-blooded battle. This amazing trilogy has also been adapted for the big screen, with the breath tacking The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part I movie in theaters now since November 21, 2014.

The Hunger Games

hgbmThe Hunger Games, the amazing introduction to the trilogy captivates us since the first read. Katniss Everdeen is a teenager who has been born in the surroundings of a prohibited forest, when little she was thought by her father, now dead, how to hunt and put food on her family’s table. She lives with her family, her mom and her little sister, the beautiful Prim, in District 12, now the last of all districts since the destruction of District 13, in the country of Panem. Katniss, since the beginning, without knowing it has made defiant moves towards the Capitol by just going over the electrified fence, which never works, that contains them outside the reach of the forest. But that’s where she feels herself! And that’s where she meets her now gorgeous best friend, Gale Hawthorne.

The Hunger Games is an event that the Capitol of Panem hosts every year as a reminder who are the ones that rule and why they should not rebel against the Capitol in a way that will look like entertainment for those that live naively in the Capitol. In the Hunger Games two “tributes”, a boy and a girl, are extracted from each of the twelve districts and they are brought to an arena that it is changed every year by a gamemaker. This year in the reaping, Katniss little sister is called out and she volunteers to take her place. The boy selected for the games is Peeta Mellark, the baker’s son. Peeta and Katniss are sent to the Capitol to be prepared for the Games and in the opening ceremonies they catch everyone’s attention. Peeta in his interview reveals  shocking news, this news make Katniss super angry, but Peeta confess that it is just a strategy to make her more appealing to the spectators, is it?. Let the Hunger Games begin and may the odds be ever in your favor! 23 tributes in the arena and Katniss starts on her own at first, she at home has encounter near death experiences, but this doesn’t compares to District 12. She has to kill, but she doesn’t wants it and she promised her sister she would try to win. Katniss has to win, for the sake of her sister, but will she be able to kill, will she be able to separate her feelings from the Games?

Catching Fire

cf  cfm  Catching Fire, the second book of the amazing trilogy, The Hunger Games. Katniss and Peeta won the 74th Hunger Games out of luck and it has been six months since then. It’s time for the 75th Hunger Games and the Capitol loves to give a twist to the Games every twenty-five years and this year, since Katniss angered the Capitol when she made an act of defiance in the last Games, they decided to drag her back to the Hunger Games! In this second installment the author takes into Katniss complicated situation with the Capitol. She is trying to decide on her feelings between Peeta and Gale and at the same time pleased President Snow. She knows that anything she does, even if it comes from the heart, turns as an act of rebellion and all she wants from the Capitol is to leave her and her close ones alone. But we all know that Snow will not cease until he gets what he want, and that is Katniss death! In Catching Fire the author portrays the desperation of how the government and how far they would go stop another revolution. In the story the readers will sink into a deeper love triangle and will get the background story of District 13. Suzanne Collins with her second installment brings Katniss into a revolution that she doesn’t know she is part of and bring the tension if Katniss will survive a second Hunger Games. Will she be able to do what President Snow wants? Will she be able to know what her heart really wants?

Mockingjay

MB MM The breathtaking conclusion of the The Hunger Games trilogy will keep your heart at your throat. in this last installment we discover that District 13 is more than it meets the eye, also our deadly President Snow. In this book Suzanne Collins gives us more insight into Katniss emotions, President Snow has Peeta’s life in a string. Katniss has been broken from being in the Games -twice!- . She has been asked to be the Mockingjay of the rebellion and she agreed with some conditions. I most confess that all the people who I know that has read this book tell me that this was their least favorite, but since I am me, I had to be the only one that declare the final book in of The Hunger Games a favorite. I actually LOVE this book! People say that this one was their least favorite, because all the deaths and Peeta’s absence love in most of the book, but all this is the reason I love it. Collins’s doesn’t  just give us a story were she breaks our heart, she also breaks our deeply attachment to different characters. So, Suzanne brought us through the messy hell Katniss is going through and in they way she took burned our hearts. I absolutely recommend this books to everyone, books with love, uprising, sorrow and action you will not be able to put them down. With that I leave you people to dive yourselves in the amazing fire of Suzanne Collins.
